MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS The Bristol, Tennessee Police Department accepted its seventh (7 th ) accreditation award "Advanced Meritorious Accreditation" from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) on July 30, 2016 in Baltimore, MD. The department was in compliance with 100% of the mandatory standards and 94% of the Other-Than-Mandatory-Compliance standards. BTPD - TN State Accreditation – 3 rd consecutive award -The department recently had its files and operations reviewed by the state assessment team and all standards and their proofs were found to be in compliance. Re-accreditation was formally awarded at the TACP Conference September 28 th . Bristol's Police Department led the initiative to develop the Tennessee State Accreditation process with the department serving on the TACP's Professional Standards Committee and providing accreditation training to member agencies. With Bristol being the founding agency, it was also the first to undergo the initial state accreditation process successfully and mentor other agencies throughout the state to achieve their accredited status. Currently, there are 65 agencies participating in the process. The Utility Services Division earned a 99% rating by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation's Division of Water Resources. Bristol, TN Public Works Department received the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operational Excellence Award from the Water & Environment Association- Kentucky/Tennessee Chapter. U.S. Department of Economic Development and Administration awarded the City of Bristol, TN a $1.5 million grant for infrastructure improvements. Bristol, Tennessee Fire Department received a National Fire Safety Council Service Award. City Finance Department received a Certificate for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 13 th consecutive year. Tennessee Chapter of the American Planning Association presented to Community Development's Blake Ailor the 2016 Outstanding Planning Award for Plan Implementation for Small Communities. City ranked #1 for senior living affordability relative to local crime rates.
