Welcome Race Fans

August 21, 2015 Jaima Helbert

Once again we welcome 160,000 of our closest friends to world’s fastest half-mile.

If this is your first visit to Bristol, take some time to look around our beautiful city, which is a twin city located directly on the Tennessee-Virginia state line.  Go into historic downtown, and on State Street see the brass markers located in the middle of the street designating where the state line is located, look up and see the 100 year old iconic Bristol sign straddling the two states.  Venture on down into the city, stop in the Appalachian Cultural Music Museum and the Birthplace of Country Music Museum to find out more about Bristol- “The Birthplace of Country Music”.  While there find out a little more about a festival that was created some 15 years ago just to celebrate that rich musical heritage.  Rhythm and Roots is hosted each year in September and has approximately 50,000 people in attendance during the three day festival. You might want to consider coming back for another weekend of music and fun.

Looking for a place to dine? Try our downtown restaurants or look to our many other dining locations throughout the city.  Shopping?  Have we got shopping for you!  The newest shopping experience may be found in the Pinnacle on 11-W at Exit 74 where you can find almost 30 brand new stores or take in a game of bowling at Uncle Buck’s. If bowling is not your thing, try golf at one of the many public courses in the Bristol area.  If something a little less competitive is what you are interested in you may want to find you way to South Holston Lake and enjoy a day of boating or fly fishing on the South Holston River.

Music, shopping, fishing, great food, and the best southern hospitality around and of course the best racing you will see anywhere- it is all right here in Bristol!
